Story
Occupation: Building Surveyor & Retained Firefighter
About Me: I was born in Cooma and went to school here at both St Pats and Monaro High. I’ve been employed at the Local Council for 9 years now as a Health and Building Surveyor and have recently joined the Cooma Fire and Rescue as a retained Firefighter. I spend my time playing as much sport as I can with Rugby League and Cricket taking up most of my weekends. I’ll get away to the coast when I can with my partner Kate and am a Manly Sea Eagles tragic. I only have ice cream on Thursday nights and can almost always tell when they use fake dinosaurs in movies.
Why I am participating in Monaro Spectacular: For those who know me I’m really looking forward to having a hair and makeup team!! But honestly getting involved in this was a no brainer. Knowing that all the money we raise stays here and benefits locals is the main reason for participating. What the families are going through with loved ones affected by cancer is nothing compared to what we will do over the next 3 months. Plus I had some friends do it over the years and I’d like to put on a better show than them!
My Choreographers are: Steph Blumer & Hannah Knight
Monaro Committee for Cancer Research Incorporated
The Monaro Committee for Cancer Research was formed in 1996 by the daughter of a young Monaro mother who after a 5 year struggle lost her battle with cancer. Since its inception the mcCr has supported cancer outreach services on Snowy Monaro. In 2007 after much lobbying, a local oncology service was introduced to the Cooma Hospital. Local support raised in excess of $100,000 towards this project and today we have a successful outreach oncology service. mcCr is a local voluntary group of dedicated women working towards further cancer support and services for the Snowy Monaro Region.Your support will enable mcCr to continue this assistance for cancer sufferers.
